24+ Years

Direct Access Motorcycle Course

From the age of 24 (minimum entry age, unless you have held your A2 licence for a minimum of 2 years, this is known as Progressive Access, so at 21 you can complete this Licence without the need for a further theory test), you have the additional choice of the Direct Access (DAS) full licence course.

You can still however opt to complete either the A1 or A2 full licence courses (see Courses 17-19, and 19-24). To obtain a full motorcycle licence you will need to have a provisional motorcycle licence (category A), a valid Cbt certificate (see courses - 16) and a valid motorcycle theory test (see training resources).

Each full licence motorcycle course will involve a number of training days relating to your ability followed by two practical tests with the Driving and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).

Direct Access Motorcycle Licence

This course is completed on a bike of 595cc minimum.  We have a fleet of the latest (2016) Kawasake Er6's, which are 650cc and leads to a full motorcycle licence.  You must be 24 years old or above to complete this course, (unless you have held your A2 licence for a minimum of 2 years using your Progressive Access option).  On successfully completing your Direct Access practical test with the DVSA you will obtain a full motorcycle licence.

You will then be able to ride any bike, of any size, with no restriction.

The practical test is in two parts, module one (£15.50) and module two (£75.00).  The module one test involves candidates being asked by the examiner to demonstrate their riding ability on either the left-hand or right-hand circuit.  Module 2 of the test will be about 47 minutes in length and will consist of the eyesight test, road safety questions and at least 35 minutes of road riding consisting of a road ride covering a variety of road and traffic conditions and will also include normal stops, hill and angle starts.
